  1. To elf: The securom is very complex and hard to break protection, no matter what version it is, it always requires a lot of reverse engineering and time to break it. As far as I remember, the beta is protected by Securom v4.11, which was also used in retail version. To anyone: I've managed to remove the protection completely, but it seems that the patched executable is working only on my windows, Volh told me that it crashed when he tried to run it. I don't know why, but it crashes on other computers when calling ntdll.RtlReAllocateHeap, and it seems that linker can't resolve the address of the function correcly. It also work's without patched exe, via emulation, thats why I haven't fixed the problem yet, but if there's somebody who want the patched exe for researching purposes, send me PM.
  2. So you decided to release it publicly... great, I only hope that nobody gets suited for breaking law, since it's not really legal to share it since it's protected by SecuRom. But it's okay with me Btw, there is also multiplayer, it's hidden and unfinished. To enable multiplayer in menu and in-game debug & cheats use this command-line: "Arcanum.exe -2680 -92780". Edit: Also, when you press ESC key in main menu, you start playing in shop map.
  3. Excellent work! I just tested it, fooled around Tarant, and I'm already loving it! Those roads are excellent thing, are you planning to add some town signs or fallout-like billboards? It would be great to know where those roads heads before you enter them. I might be able to help you with that, I could make a model of the billboard, render it, and put it into photoshop format, so it will be easy for you to change it's text. With the ArtGen tool, you can easily convert it to .art file and use it as scenery in game. Also, what about the World map? It's currently disabled, but it's possible to enable it through the patch that is available in the MultiArcanum, so you can include it in your OldBuggyArc as well if you want to, no need for permission. You cannot travel with that, but at least it shows you where you are. Btw, I noticed some bugs as well, hidden one, possibly in the .mes files: Anyway, thanks a lot and please keep up the good work!
  4. Hello, I'm fine already, thank you for asking ;) The ArcanumAlive & OpenArcanum are still alive and in progress. If you are interested, check out official website, its been already updated. Have a nice day.
  5. This post is hardly intelligible. To be honest, I've discovered a lot of new things reading the topic at TA. Good luck in finding the beta! But is there anything else (beside alternate lizardmen models) in Drog fucking Black Tooth's pack? He claimed to have restored some original content, perhaps at least this can be of some use? Yeah, Mr. Google Translator (Well, but still better than nothing ) AFAIK, there is nothing else that he managed to restore, don't know why, maybe that lizardmen were the only thing that was extra in his version of beta. He said, in his post at TA, that his beta was built few months before retail game, so there was probably not much different things. However, there were more beta versions, and because he is troll, I still believe that there is something left to restore. If not, this beta will surely be interesting for research and other stuff.
  6. They don't have it, only DBT have it, and he left TA forums long time ago.
  7. Hello, so far I managed to complete a research of this file formats: Art, Dat and FacWalk. It means that these file formats have complete specifications. I already released these specifications, so its possible to use them to make a tool for editing or making such files. Here is links to that specifications: -Art -Dat -FacWalk I hope that it will be useful to somebody. P.S. I also hope that this is right forum section
  8. Have you read that topic at TA forums? They wont bite you! (I hope so) The beta version contains a lot of deleted content, that did not get into final game. Do you remember that Lizardman restore patch, released by DBT? he got that from press beta Also look what I found, very interesting: Link: http://www.terra-arcanum.com/index.php?sec...faqs&id=uberFAQ
  9. I haven't downloaded that yet, but from filename I bet its only demo version, and not beta Edit: Downloaded, I can confirm that its only DEMO version ;)

    Arcanum - Beta version?

Hello everybody may I ask you: does anybody here have a Arcanum beta version (and is willing to share it)? or do you know somebody who have it? This topic is currently discussed at TA forums, we found out that 10 people were chosen for beta testing, and that there were also version for the press, which is also beta. We also know who have this press version: Drog Black Tooth, but he left TA forums already and probably won't respond to any private messages. The link to that topic is: http://www.terra-arcanum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=16750 Thank you for any answers. P.S. Sorry for posting in English and mentioning DBT and TA. Edit: Sorry for posting in wrong section
  11. Delarn, always check ArcanumAlive forums before asking here, because Saruman has already announced at our forums that the English version will be released sooner or later. Check out his announcement: http://arcanum.game-alive.com/forums/viewt...t=11&p=410#p409 Have a nice day, everybody
  12. Well, I think that you can reduce that noise, but not in batch mode, you'll need to do it manually for every file. btw, I found very nice tutorial for reducing background noise, its made for FL Studio and it actually works Check it out: Now there is question, what will be better (faster), to record everything again, or reduce that noise I think that recording will be better choice, and its probably more enjoyable ;)
  13. Hi everybody... If I understood correctly, you have tried to add Russian dubbing into game? I listened to that Virgil dubbing, and even I'm not audio guru or technician, I can hear a lot of background noise, caused probably by computer used for recording. (1) Also what I noticed, is a different volume levels in every dialogue, which is probably caused by lack of voice calibration. (2) Next thing that I've noticed is that it was recorded without pop filter and without high quality mic, so final recordings are not so quality as they could be. (3) These problems cannot be completely filtered out, so it will be better to record that dubbing again, but with better equipment and settings. I can give you some tips that I'm sure that will help: -Use better microphone, some dynamic for vocal recording. I recommend you Samson C01U or better. Why I recommend it? Its high quality mic, it has USB and its "cheap". (I have it too). (http://www.samsontech.com/products/product...cfm?prodid=1810) -Use pop filter and windshield to minimize pops and noise. -Use notebook for recoding, it usually makes lower noise than PC. Also quiet room is required. -Warm up vocal chords before recording, select some sentences, speak them, record them and compare them with same recorded sentence day before. You should reach same volume levels. -You may also speedup recording by using ArcVoice tool. (http://arcanum.game-alive.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=40) Those are my tips, if you want more, you should probably search for some nice tuts how to record voice to make them sound like professionally recorded from studio. Anyway, good job! keep it up PS: There is also tutorial for adding speech to dialogs without speech: http://arcanum.game-alive.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=41
  14. To Radzh: Well, I agree that I wasn't much polite when I posted here my "findings" a 5 days ago, and I also agree that it "might" look like a hysterical burst, but it was only because I felt shirty at that time. I know that its not an excuse, but hey, everybody has these days. To Saruman: Oh, I forgot something... I'm very sorry, I didn't meant that in bad way, even it could look like that, so please accept my apologies. To All: Have a beautiful day.
  15. To Saruman: Excellent, thank You very much Let me know if you want that subdomain, and I'll create for you a ftp account + website. See you later and thank You again PS: Oh, that topic title, what about changing it back to UltimateArcanum? You know I was talking only about "mentioning" it... but anyways, thank you ;)
  16. To Saruman: First of all, I don't know why you have to be so dramatic and sarcastic, maybe it should make me look like as bad guy? I had no right to say any word right?;) You know, you could said that "normally". Secondly, I only said that you didn't mentioned MultiArcanum anywhere, and that you didn't even mentioned that UltimateArcanum is based on MultiArcanum. Also, You said that I've only contributed to your project, and I've mentioned before that I don't insist to be mentioned in credits at all, because I rather see that you will give some credits to MultiArcanum, thats whats going on. You know, I didn't accused you in stealing or something, because its not truth and because I meant that in good way. Also I didn't said that you should stop working on it nor that its not your project anymore, so I don't know why are making from it something damned and evil. Next thing, about English support, you could just say that you will try to add English support some day. Is that so hard? I guess not, because You know English well, plus you've made that translation, so it should be easier to translate it into English as well. Thats all. So why are you making from it such big deal? Can you please continue working on it, and add English support some day? I guess that there is also a lot of non-Russian speaking people who would like to play it or at least try it. If you are worried that it will be wasting of time making an English version for ArcanumClub only, because it won't be popular here, you could release it on TA or AA forums, or I can give you a subdomain at game-alive.com, in format like http://saruman.game-alive.com, http://uarcanum.game-alive.com or something like that, where you could add both versions, for Russian and English language. So what do you think? Have a nice day.
  17. If I understood correctly, UltimateArcanum is supposed to be only for ArcanumClub community? Because since you've released first version, I've started to recommend everywhere and to everybody that they should use UltimateArcanum instead of MultiArcanum, then I found out that its unplayable because it has no English language support. Two weeks after I've got email saying that I'm foolish because I let you pick over MultiArcanum project, and let you claim yourself as the author and me as contributor. Then I checked this topic, and by reading posts at forums and news from site, I've realized that its truth. Anyway, your are saying that its unfair that I've made MultiArcanum only for English version? Well, Arcanum itself is in English, and afaik English is the world wide language, since its teached in almost every country at least as secondary language, so only whats unfair is that you didn't added a English support to UltimateArcanum, which could be easily added via patch. Btw, English is not my native language too, and everything I release is in English, even when its lame, still people can understand it more than to something that is written in my native language. I do believe I clearly outlined all the work that was done by you. I've never called you a contributor. Credits mean respect and gratitude, not just mere thanks for doing some dirty work. It is a pity that you didn't take them that way. I must admit that some of my work was redundant as I renumerated the scripts and dialogs for them to be internal in relation to the module, which could be done as well by directly saving them with game internal numbers, which causes an override of the consequential core scripts and dialogs. But what I've done will take anyone days and weeks to work it out by using WorldEd, and that is exactly what I've done. Not to mention the fixes that were added, or the completely reworked railway dialog and script system, which can be now expanded if needed. As I've already stated it was a product to satisfly the demands of a specific group of people that actually needed it, not to become a first in the world Arcanum multiplayer module. I had no intentions to run a community-based module development program, the changelog to what did you expect? To your mod? Well, to start with, this is a module, not a mod. Just a file you paste into your Arcanum/modules directory. I just can't see why I should have done anything differently, because I've never claimed anything else that this module is an adaptation of your work in russian language, which is mostly fully playable online. And let's be honest, this took me time and effort, you should know this better than anyone else. How you think this should be called and each of us be appropriately credited? Well its not about me nor about how much credit I've obtained, I don't insist to be mentioned in credits at all, because its all about MultiArcanum and ArcanumAlive project, and you've never mentioned them anywhere, plus you are claiming that I've only "contributed" to your project. Now there is question, who is "the author" and who is "the contributor"? If I take UltimateArcanum, implement some new features and rename it back to MultiArcanum, who will I be? author, contributor or one of the authors? Next question is who is the author? its that somebody who put into it the most effort? or its somebody who had that idea? You see now what I mean? Another question, if you delete from UltimateArcanum all files that comes from MultiArcanum, what will left? Yes, MultiArcanum has bugs, but which I found out after I've released that, and you know, that I could fix everything, and only by myself, but I didn't because there was nobody who could test it nor willing to play it. But it doesn't changes the fact that I was under impression that you are going to continue on MultiArcanum, even under different name, but in same sense. Well, thats all I wanted to say, don't take that personally, its your project now. I gave you permission before, and I'm glad that you've asked for that. You are right, lets stop this argument, but you should know what I wouldn't say a word if I had no reason. Anyway I'm leaving ArcanumClub, because I don't understand to Russian language and there is not even a English or Czech subforum, so you don't need to answer to anything, since I won't be able to read it at all. Have a nice day. Good bye.
  18. Well, I mean that version that is available to download in this topic... it can be "old" for you, but for me its new since last time I've checked that. So nope, there is probably no new version... Have a nice day.
  19. Its for Saruman, he is the author of this topic and UltimateArcanum ;)
  20. A while ago, I've checked new version of UltimateArcanum, and I just realized something, there is no English support, its only in Russian language which means that you've made it only for ArcanumClub community? You know, MultiArcanum has English support, because its supposed to be available for whole world, and not only for specific country. Next thing I've just realized is that you've mentioned me as "contributor", well, if you are taking tasks like merging all maps into one, fixing all sectors, fixing all mobile objects, and patching 342 scripts as "contributing" to your mod, then I consider that as outrage, because these tasks will take your years to do via WorldEd and hex editor and lets be honest, its based on MultiArcanum, because you took MultiArcanum, you fixed some stuff, added teleporting stones and renamed it to UltimateArcanum. Well, its my fault, I was blindfold and I haven't realized that till now... nevermind, as I said before, its your now ;) Next thing, you've forgot (?) to post here a change log or some list of changes that you've made. There is not even change log from MultiArcanum, which includes a lot of important info for modders, like new map locations, list of patched scripts and list of renamed mobs. Well, thats all I wanted to say. Have a nice day. PS: At least you could post here list of new locations, from file "#Multiplayer - Locations.txt", which is located in download: http://arcanum.game-alive.com/download/MultiArcanum_v0.1.rar
  21. Braxton Bry -> If you look at ArcanumAlive forums, you may see a status of the OpenArcanum project, which is "canceled", but if you look at my last post you might see a another "announcement" which says that its "revived". I thought that there wont be anybody who will continue working on it, but I see that radzh and others has not yet left this project, which means a lot for me, so I'll release source codes as I promised as soon as possible, it won't be now but after I finish everything I wanted, which may take about 2 months.

    OpenArcanum

Greetings, I see that you all noticed that project was abandoned, and I guess that you all know the reasons why its like that, so I hope that you all will support a new project leader in his work more... Yes, project will continue, because I've found somebody who will take care about its success and future, so you don't need to worry about that anymore. I can't promise that, but source codes might be released someday in January 2010, it's also depending on new leader's opinion, since he doesn't decided yet if he want to work in open or closed source style. See you all, have a nice day and happy new year!

    OpenArcanum

Greetings As you know, I've been working on ArcanumAlive project, which is dedicated to bring this game alive, making Arcanum communities more livelier, including making new tools and new engine replacement for old Arcanum. This topic is dedicated to a new engine I'm working on, its called OpenArcanum, which will replace old Arcanum engine completely. Here is latest video from OpenArcanum: YouTube: Download, Best quality: http://arcanum.game-alive.com/download/OpenArcanum_0001.wmv Why OpenArcanum might be needed? Any features? - Fully open source, possible to edit everything by everyone. - Free, content recreation or game resources will be needed to play. - File format documentation and loaders, all file Arcanum formats researched, possibility to make a full editor for any format. - Modder friendly, almost everything will be possible to edit externally, without touching core. - Written in C++, using OpenGL, Lua and Qt (probably temporary). - Possible to make Arcanum 2 or expansion packs. - Possible to make new gameplay system and features. - New multiplayer modes possible, including deathmatch, capture the flag, etc. ... any many more. Why I'm posting this here? I'm looking for people who are willing to join or contribute to this project. Who is welcomed to join? - Leader and core designer, knowing something about RPG game development. - General programmer, working on core, cooperate with others below. - Logic programmer, game play algorithms. - Socket programmer, for multiplayer stuff. - Scripters, working in Lua. For programmers, You should be experienced C++ programmer and have/make a some free time! Also there is some one time jobs: - Rendering optimization, 2D OpenGL stuff. - Testing, especially on Linux. - Contributing, fixing... If you are interested, please write here or at ArcanumAlive forums, in OpenArcanum subforum here. Any suggestions and ideas are welcomed as well! Thank you! PS: Source codes will be released and uploaded to public SVN repository after main team is assembled.
  24. Hello NeOn, still playing online?:P Anyway, You can also use that 3D models when you want to remodel some Art, it will help you more than blueprint I guess.
  25. Is anybody interested in converting some Art into 3DS model? I can convert some more, but 3DS mesh is limited to have only 65536 faces, and you need 2 faces per pixel, it means that image cannot be larger than 128x128 pixels, but if anybody is really interested, I could save it in different format, like LWO, or I can just split larger images into more meshes, which can be easily merged in 3DS Max As you can see, its not much 3D, but it has bump map applied directly on vertex position, so it gives some 3D shape, so its not completely flat
